SAVES CAMPAIGN - FEDERAL ELECTION 2007 CANDIDATE INFORMATION

In 1997 Federal Parliament passed Kevin Andrews' Euthanasia Laws Bill to overturn the Northern Territory's Rights of the Terminally Ill Act 1995; the world's first voluntary euthanasia law. Australian Democrats leader Lyn Allison introduced a bill to restore the Northern Territory law but this has lapsed with the coming election. The fight to restore the Northern Territory's democratic rights will continue - how do your candidates stand on the principle of choice for voluntary euthanasia?

The ALP and the Coalition have made the issue of voluntary euthanasia a conscience vote; an abdication of the duty to rationally consider the harm and the good of bills before them - refer The Conscience Vote in a Representative Democracy

This information is provided for the benefit of voters by SAVES Inc. Please consider voting for those candidates who support the principle of choice for voluntary euthanasia.
