The Voluntary Euthanasia Research Foundation (VERF) is establishing a national Advance Directive Database to allow end-of-life instructions to be immediately accessed by medical staff throughout Australia. These will not be considered original documents and will not be legally binding. However they provide a good intention of patients' wishes while the original documents are located. Medic Alert bracelets are another alternative, but attract restricted usage due to cost.
