SAVES' new patron
SAVES is both delighted and honoured that Robyn Layton
QC is now a patron of the society. Ms Layton was admitted to the Bar
in 1968, appointed Queens Council in 1992 and received a Master of Laws
in 1999. She has extensive experience as a Barrister and Solicitor in private
practice and is currently a member of the Advocacy Committee, and Chairperson
of the Human Rights Commission of the Law Society of SA. She has held numerous
academic and professional appointments and has written many publications
and speeches on a wide range of issues. These include 'Civil Liberties',
the 'Rights of Children', 'Women and the Law', 'Bioethics and Informed
Consent' and 'Ethics and Resource Allocation'.
It is very encouraging that a woman of Ms Layton's intellectual
stature and integrity is now a patron of the society. Her support is greatly
appreciated.
