SAVES and the EXIT Australia Board

The SAVES committee has respectfully declined Dr Philip Nitschke's invitation to join the EXIT Board. Our commitment to law reform involves intensive lobbying of doctors and legislators, and VERF, in its development of self-deliverance techniques, seeks to bypass these. Our primary aim would thus be seriously handicapped if we were involved in EXIT, or if EXIT appeared to speak on our behalf. This in no way implies that we are opposed to Philip or to EXIT Australia. We will continue to work towards maintaining respectful and effective working relations with Philip, as we do with all the VES. In this way, solidarity ensures strength towards achieving our common aims of law reform.
