Sir Mark Oliphant

Members may have been concerned over the recent ABC Stateline interview with SAVES patron, Sir Mark Oliphant, in which his ongoing support for voluntary euthanasia legislation appeared unclear.

After seeking clarification of his position, we received a comprehensive letter from his niece explaining that the interview lasted three hours and was very tiring for Sir Mark, who is now 98 years of age.

She has assured us that Sir Mark has not changed his position on the matter and is still fully supportive of the individual's right to choose voluntary euthanasia. He has also indicated that he wishes to continue as a patron of SAVES.

Following several enquiries from their members, SAVES President, Mary Gallnor, has written to the Right to Life Association confirming Sir Mark's position.

We remain honoured and privileged to have Sir Mark, a truly great humanitarian, as a patron.
